Kicking Girls, football across Germany and beyond as a way towards social integration.

We would like to recognise Kicking Girls, a down to earth and effective project that has grown exponentially with Germany and beyond driven by Arsenal football legend Jens Lehmann and the Laureus Foundation .

What began more than 10 years ago in an Oldenburg district has now extended across the whole of the Federal Republic of Germany with the inclusion of 250 schools in 100 towns and close to 5,000 participants. With the help of the Laureus Foundation Germany Kicking Girls aims at the social integration of girls through football” was the idea of the pilot initiative to integrate young girls in socially disadvantaged regions through football into the majority society. This action has quickly become a huge success story with the coordinated building blocks in a sustainable action concept.
