I’d like to recognize Don Presant of CanCred.ca. Don has been a tireless promoter of the values that accrue to individuals and organizations through the use of open badging and recognition systems.
We have worked with Don through eCampusOntario.ca for the past two years, pilot testing badging recognition systems in our colleges and universities in Ontario, Canada. Don co-developed an Ontario Open Badge Forum with our team in November 2017. It brought together educators along with representatives from government and industry for rich discussions on recognition of learning. Don has also been proactive in working with our staff to organize webinars and other educational meetings. As a consequence, we are now starting to see formal badging programs emerging from some of our post-secondary institutions. We want to highlight Don Presant’s contribution to the advancement of thinking about badging and recognition in Ontario and across Canada.
