Sébastien Bauvet - BIO

Sébastien Bauvet studied political science at the Institut d’études politiques de Lyon and at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, and has a doctorate in sociology from the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (Paris). He wrote his thesis on employment and working conditions in the world of private security, which he defended in 2015 under the supervision of Serge Paugam. At the same time, he contributed to the actions of an association supporting school success for pupils from working-class neighbourhoods and to several experiments evaluated in the school environment. Then, after two years of teaching at the University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland) as part of an agreement with the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), he joined Frateli Lab, a research and development company belonging to the Article 1 association, where he has been working since 2017 on professional integration and more specifically on the theme of soft skills. By seeking to bring sociology into dialogue with psychology, educational sciences and management sciences, he is trying to build a reflection on the place of these skills in the processes of learning, recognition and socio-professional integration. While deconstructing them as notions that have become central to public policies and corporate recruitment, he shows their interest in terms of diversifying forms of intelligence and excellence, in order to make them accessible from a semantic and practical point of view (applications, training, projects) to people from disadvantaged environments. He has recently been involved in projects around soft skills for innovators and skills related to event-based volunteering.
