I believe in a Web on which
clients possess more intelligence
than the servers they use.

I’m a professor of Semantic Web technology at IDLab, a group of Ghent University/imec, and a research affiliate at the Decentralized Information Group of CSAIL at MIT. I love to discuss about the Web, decentralization, hypermedia clients, Web APIs, Linked Data, and much more. If you like these things too, then we should talk.

I am contributing to te Solid, an exciting new project led by Prof. Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web, taking place at MIT. The project aims to radically change the way Web applications work today, resulting in true data ownership as well as improved privacy.

My belief is that if we want to see intelligent clients, we should stop trying to build intelligent servers. We should focus on designing a new generation of Web applications that emphasize serendipitous reuse of data and functionality through decentralization.

Of course, I practice what I preach and publish my own data as Linked Open Data. You can query my data live on the Web, even across multiple datasets.
